Department of human anatomy:
Anatomy is the first science learned by medical students as it is the corner stone for all other medical sciences. It was a priority for the faculty of medicine to build up a comprehensive dissection room (DR) to provide the student with the basics of anatomy. The faculty has built a state- of art DR well equipped with modern formalin tanks, mortuary refrigerators, well laminated floor and enormous suction fans to ensure students will work in a healthy environment. Work started with four corpses in addition to plastic models. The department also possesses Cyto-histology laboratory equipped with the latest versions of microscopes, microtomes and automated staining machines.
Anatomy department covers the teaching duties of anatomy, embryology and histology for second and third year medical students and second year applied medical science students by both male and female staff, while the practical sessions are held at the main DR at the male section because the female side own DR being constructed. The DR has a special entrance to facilitate the entry of female students without having to cross the main faculty building with timetable set to allow the female students and their accompanying doctors take their own session without interference from male side.
