The Electrical Engineering Program was initiated since the first establishment of Northern Border University (NBU) in 2007. The NBU is located in Arar, the main city of Northern Border Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Electrical Engineering Program is one of the five Programs of the Faculty of Engineering, which are Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Initially, all the five Programs were overseen by the Faculty of Engineering of King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah.
At the end of Fall 2009, the Electrical Engineering program admitted the first group of students. These were 14 students who had successfully completed a mandatory one year Preparatory program. The program started with two Professors, one Associate Professor and two Instructors hired from different nations. Now, there are 86 students enrolled in the different study levels with a teaching staff consists of two Professors, three Associate Professors, five Assistant Professors, four Instructors and six Adjuncts. The first group, comprising 14 students who were initially enrolled with Electrical Engineering program, is graduated in Spring 2013. Graduates received the Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
