1- Transfer from another University to NBU
The transfer of a student from another University to NBU may be accepted under the following conditions:
· The student should have studied at a recognized college (or Faculty) or university.
All transfer applications are submitted to the deanship of admission and registration, which in accordance, forward the applications to the faculty council to evaluate the situations, complete the procedure, and decide either acceptance or refuse of student transfer.
If a student is accepted for transfer and wants to get equivalency credits, he must submit an application accompanied with the original academic record (transcript and course description) to the DAR. In accordance, DAR transmits the relevant material to the Deanship of the Faculty of Engineering which forwards it to the department that concern.
The curriculum committee in each department is authorized to evaluate the courses the student desires to credit in. The curriculum committee checks the equivalence between the course to be credit in and that taught in NBU Department, in terms of the contents and the number and details of the credit hours. The curriculum committee submits a recommendation to the Department Council which forwards it to faculty council to take the appropriate decision and approval.
The Faculty deanship submits the approved decision to DAR to activate the course equivalence on the registration system. The courses evaluated as equivalent are recorded in the student's academic transcript with "No Grade - Pass" (NP) and not included in the calculation of the cumulative GPA.
2- Transfer from another faculty within NBU to the Faculty of Engineering
Each year the Faculty of Engineering council determines the number of students that will be enrolled as transfer students from science-track faculties at NBU. A student applying for transfer to the Faculty of Engineering must:
▪ complete at least two academic semesters before transferring to the Faculty of Engineering.
▪ have a minimum GPA of 2.5 out of 5.0.
▪ not have completed more than 50 % of the credit hours within his faculty.
A student is allowed once to transfer from one faculty to another within NBU.
Till the academic year 2013/2014, the acceptance was based absolutely on the student GPA. After that, since the academic year 2014/2015 the student who decided to apply for transfer to the Faculty of Engineering must fulfill an average grade of at least 75% in both the following two groups of courses:
1. Group of English language courses: ELCS 101 + ELCS 102
2. Group of basic science courses: MATH 110 + PHYS 110 + CHEM 110
All courses that have been studied by a student transferred from one college (or Faculty) to another are recorded in his academic record, including the grades and the semester and cumulative GPAs obtained throughout his study at the respective University.
3- Transfer from one major to another within the college of engineering
With the approval of the dean of the faculty, a student may transfer from one Department to another within the Faculty of Engineering according to the following rules:
