NBU's e-Learning Deanship Delegation Visits Three Leading Eastern Province Universities

Dammam (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia): An academic and technical delegation from Northern Border University (NBU), led by Dean of e-Learning & Distance Learning, Dr. Ahmed M., Alenezi, visited three leading universities of Saudi Arabia namely University of Dammam (UD) in Dammam; King Faisal University (KFU) in Hofuf and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in Dhahran respectively.

This delegation began the tour from KFU, Hofuf where they were welcomed by the Dean of Deanship of e-Learning and Distance Education, Dr. Abdullah Al-Freedan. Both teams exchanged views during their meeting. They discussed strategies involved to run e-Learning systems hassle-free. Key points of this discussion included lecture capturing system ECHO 360; augmented reality and KFU's collaboration with the Colorado State University, the USA.

NBU team visited KFU Studios and met the technical team members of KFU TV during this visit. They were taken to recording & control rooms to observe the state-of-the-art infrastructure at the studio in their campus. They discussed integration challenges and solutions form active directory to Bb et al. The academic leaders toured to lecture capturing video studios as well.

NBU team then made a visit to KFUPM where they had detailed discussion with the Core e-Learning team. Host team led by Center Director, Dr. Wajih Abu Al-Sood presented their guests a glimpse of the courses they have designed to run from their e-Learning Center. Dr. Ahmed was impressed after analyzing worthiness and potentiality of e-Learning Center at KFUPM which has taken many initiatives. Both groups discussed potential course development strategies especially in the context of wide variety of extensively designed courses developed by that Center.

Both parties discussed the issues pertaining to e-Learning and shared strategies to design and develop the courses besides taking key steps in their respective universities to manage e-Learning systems to run good number of interactive eCourses. Their discussion also highlighted the two categories of courses run under Blackboard LMS named online and web-based courses.

NBU's delegation visited University of Dammam (UD) thereafter and interacted with its Core team of Deanship of e-Learning & Distance Learning. Dr. Ahmed discussed with UD's Dean, Dr. Bandar AlAamer on the quality matters. They interacted about course guidelines, strategies and quality standard procedures to upload eCourses.

The visiting team from NBU was given a presentation on course designing to coordination with faculty members before their sendoff.​​
