TOEFL testing for all students in the preparatory year
The Deanship of the Preparatory Year and Supportive Studies
conducted TOEFL test for more than a thousand students in the preparatory year
in all branches of the university. The test was conducted for the second year consecutively.
HE the Dean of Preparatory Year Dr. Moqbil Bin Salem Al-Anzi informed that the
TOEFL was conducted on Wednesday, 29/07/1435 (28/05/2014 AD). TOEFL is internationally
approved in assessing the level of students' skills in English language. The
aim of the Deanship in conducting this test is to assess the progress of the students
of the Preparatory Year in English language skills and evaluate its program in
teaching English language skills. The test results are used as significant global
benchmark and to compare programs at PY with their counterparts at other Saudi
universities. The test was conducted for all the Preparatory Year students studying English
(ELCS 102, ELCA 102) at all branches of the university – Arar, Rafha and Tureif.
It was attempted by more than 1,000 students in all branches of the university,
at a uniform time and in disciplined atmosphere, following instructions and
specifications of TOEFL test properly. The test lasted for three hours (from 10
am to 1 pm) in the halls integrated and equipped with advanced sound devices.
It included tests in English language skills related to listening, reading,
grammar, and writing.
It is worth mentioning that the process of correcting the test was conducted by the company English Testing Service (ETS), which holds the rights to this test. The company sends certified results within three weeks of the test date which are announced to the students and they receive a "certificate of TOEFL score" from the Deanship of the Preparatory Year and Supportive Studies.
