About the unit

The Decision Support Unit is a pivotal pillar of the administrative system at the Northern Borders University, as it plays a strategic role in raising the efficiency and effectiveness of institutional decisions by providing accurate data, solid statistical analysis, and reliable information that form a solid foundation for decision-making processes.

The unit is tasked with transforming raw data into actionable strategic knowledge that contributes to supporting institutional planning and performance development, and enables decision makers to understand the available options and select the most appropriate ones, in full harmony with the objectives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.

Mission

We are committed to providing accurate data and reliable analytics, and preparing specialized reports and comprehensive performance indicators that enable decision-makers to make informed and rational decisions, contribute to achieving strategic planning and establish a culture of organizational excellence.

Strategic Objectives

Linking the unit's work to the university's strategic plan and the Kingdom's Vision 2030, such as:

 - Developing an integrated data management system

-   Improve the quality and speed of analytical reports

 - Support the university's global rankings

 - Promoting the use of AI in data analysis

-  Raising the level of beneficiary satisfaction

Tasks

• Implementation of approved plans and programs  
• Developing the university's data system by collecting it from internal and external sources, classifying and classifying it in preparation for its use for strategic planning purposes and decision support
• Conducting statistical analysis of data and converting it into information that can be used to serve the University's activities in an easy-to-understand manner
• Using modern software and appropriate models to extract accurate results to come up with different alternatives to enable decision makers to choose the appropriate alternative.
• Provide the beneficiary organizational units with the necessary statistical data upon request or according to the specified timings
• Coordinating with the parties associated with the implementation of the decision to follow up on the results and changes thereto and ensure the integrity and accuracy of the data.
• Exchange of information and expertise and cooperation with internal and external information centers
• Keeping pace with the needs of the beneficiaries of information and documents and working to meet them
• Collecting and classifying data on benchmark comparisons with distinguished universities in aspects of interest to the university to benefit from when making decisions.
• Participate in the identification and provision of human resources, equipment and materials requirements
• Participate in identifying the training needs of the unit's staff and nominating them for appropriate training programs.
• Prepare periodic reports on the Unit's activities, achievements and performance development proposals
• Setting up KPIs – to support decision-making
• Develop periodic analytical and strategic reports for senior management
• Analyzing scenarios and alternatives to support decision makers
• Improving the quality of data and ensuring its accuracy and integration between the university's various resources
• Building analytical databases that support strategic studies
• Follow-up and analysis of institutional performance indicators and making improvement recommendations
• Supporting digital transformation projects in the field of data and analytics
• Provide data-driven recommendations to support policies and decisions
• Perform any other tasks assigned to it within the limits of its competence
