Under the patronage of the President of Northern Border University, Professor Ahmed bin Ali Al-Rumaih, the University celebrated the Founding Day anniversary on Tuesday evening, 26 February 2026, in a distinguished national atmosphere reflecting deep pride and appreciation for the history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its firmly rooted foundations. The event was attended by University staff and students across its various branches.
The ceremony commenced with a recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by student Abdulrahman Turad Al-Anzi, who achieved second place in the fourth category of the King Salman Local Prize for the Holy Qur’an.
On this occasion, the University President delivered a speech emphasizing that Founding Day represents a significant historical milestone recalling the establishment of the Saudi state by Imam Muhammad bin Saud in 1727 and the foundations of unity, stability, and prosperity it laid. He also highlighted the development journey during the prosperous era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may Allah preserve them, noting the continued support and empowerment across various sectors, particularly higher education. He underscored the role of educational institutions in strengthening national identity and instilling authentic values in future generations.
The ceremony also featured contributions from international scholarship students, who expressed their appreciation for the Kingdom and its leadership and conveyed gratitude for the care and hospitality extended to them. Mr. Bassam Dakhil Al-Anzi recited a national poem expressing pride in the homeland and its leadership and reflecting the Kingdom’s progress and development across multiple fields. The ceremony was presented by Mr. Mansour bin Rumaid Al-Anzi.
Following the formal program, attendees visited the accompanying exhibition, which highlighted the stages of the founding of the First Saudi State and included several heritage and cultural sections featuring traditional crafts, popular foods, and folkloric performances representing elements of the Kingdom’s cultural heritage. The exhibition reflected the authenticity of national identity and the richness of Saudi heritage.
The celebration concluded amid wide praise for the organization and strong engagement from University staff and students, affirming that Founding Day will remain a lasting national occasion that renews pride in the Kingdom’s deep roots and highlights its ambitious development journey.
