TiO2–SiO2 nanoparticles are promising materials for energy storage devices, but optimization of the stability, particle size, and electrochemical performance is still a challenge. The optimal synthesis conditions were determined for TiO2–SiO2 nanoparticles at ratio of 1:1, pH 1, synthesis temperature of 35 ◦C, and 2 % PVA. Under these all-post optimization conditions, the nanoparticles exhibited enhanced stability (􀀀 23.26 mV) and minimized hydrodynamic size (189 nm) as confirmed by dynamic light scattering, along with a slight increase in the band gap. Electrochemical studies revealed superior performance, with the optimized NPs achieving a specific capacitance of (1038 F/g at 2.5 A/g)...
BACKGROUND: The increasing contamination of water bodies with industrial dyes necessitates efficient remediation strategies. CuO–ZnO composite nanoparticles (NPs) have shown promise as adsorbents due to their high surface area, stability, and tunable properties. This study focuses on optimizing the synthesis conditions of CuO-ZnO NPs via a co-precipitation method and evaluating their performance for the removal of Reactive Black 5 (RB5) dye. RESULTS: CuO–ZnO composite NPs were synthesized with varied precursor ratios, pH values, temperatures, and reagent addition times to achieve optimal size and stability. Characterization using ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy, fluorescence, X-ray...
(Zn–Magn) nanoparticles and their corresponding sodium tripolyphosphate–functionalized nanoparticles (Zn–Magn@STPP) was investigated in details. The pristine nanoparticles (Zn–Magn) were prepared by the classical coprecipitation method, while the Zn–Magn@STPP ones were obtained by reacting colloid of the former nanoparticles with a STPP solution in an acidic pH. The produced powders consisted of single crystals of spinel–type ferrite ultrasmall (~10 nm) almost spherical magnetic nanoparticles. Additionally, the Zn–Magn@STPP showed a robust-dense anchoring of STPP moieties onto the nanoparticles’ surface. Regarding the adsorption properties, the effect of various influencing parameters on CV...
This study presents a systematic optimization of zinc-copper sulfide (ZnS:CuS) nanocomposites aimed at achieving smaller hydrodynamic size, improved polydispersity, and enhanced colloidal stability for efficient adsorption of Reactive Black 5 (RB5) dye from aqueous solutions. The effects of key synthesis parameters, including pH, temperature, reagent addition rate, and stabilizer concentration, were comprehensively investigated. Under optimized conditions of pH 5, 80 °C, 5-min reagent addition, and 1% polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) stabilizer, the nanocomposite achieved a minimum hydrodynamic size of 190 nm, a polydispersity index (PDI) of 0.37, and a zeta potential of − 29.7 mV, confirming high...
This study provides strong evidence that lone pair interactions dominate over aromaticity in binding to metal oxide surfaces, in sharp contrast to their behaviour on pure metal surfaces. Our earlier work showed that lone pairs and aromatic groups act synergistically in organic molecules interacting with metal surfaces. Here, we demonstrate that on metal oxides, the situation is reversed: lone pair interactions are significantly stronger than those of aromatic bonds, and when both are present, aromatic groups actually reduce the overall interaction strength. This finding highlights a fundamental shift in binding mechanisms when moving from metals to metal oxides. Fluorescence spectroscopy and...
